Most NBA fans and analysts thought the Golden State Warriors would make a clean sweep against the Houston Rockets, but Steph Curry’s injury has got the Warriors in a bit of a sticky situation without their captain at the helm. The teams won’t meet again until Wednesday, April 27, when Golden State (3-1) looks to settle the series with Houston (1-3).
However, two of the 1st round playoffs (and not much of a surprise) have already ended in a sweep: San Antonio dominating Memphis 4-0; and Cleveland confidently overcoming Detroit in four. And, last night Oklahoma City just won the 1st-round series 4-1 against Dallas.
That leaves five more playoff matchups with a potential to go seven games. Some critics argue the NBA should go back to a best-of-5 game series for the 1st round (especially when teams offer no competition), but with more exciting 1st-round basketball playoffs ahead who would argue? The 7-game series also leaves more time for the top seeds to rest, or cool down, depending on how you look at it.
Here are the NBA 1st-round series headed for a game five:
- Raptors vs. Pacers (2-2)
Game 5 – Tuesday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. ET - Hawks vs. Celtics (2-2)
Game 5 – Tuesday, April 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET - Heat vs. Hornets (2-2)
