Netflix has revealed their ISP Speed Index for internet service providers for the month of November, 2015. The index often includes rankings of ISP services from other countries including Australia, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and Switzerland. In the US, Verizon is still ranked the highest at an average speed of 3.83 Mbps (up from 3.27 Mbps in Nov. 2014) during primetime hours.
Cox is ranked in second place with an average speed of 3.76 Mbps (up from 3.11 Mbps in Nov. 2014). BrightHouse, Cablevision Optimum, and Comcast are ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively. Comcast, at 3.69 Mbps, jumped from the eighth position last month when their average internet performance was measured at 3.52 Mbps.
Netflix’s ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix internet performance (not of an ISP’s overall performance). The company says faster Netflix performance generally means “better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.”
