LG announced this month LG Smart TV owners will be able to add the Google Play Movies & TV service to their internet-connected sets. The Google Play access will be available in over 100 countries, for LG TVs with the webOS Smart TV platform, as well its predecessors NetCast 4.0 and 4.5. As with Google Play via browsers, the movies and television shows are available tp purchase in either SD or HD resolution.
Initial roll-outs of the Google Play on LG Smart TVs will begin in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
“The smart TV market is growing rapidly and with that comes a tremendous demand for fresher, higher-quality content,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics.
He added, “Our close partnership with Google will go a long way toward fulfilling the high expectations of LG Smart TV owners.”
Google Play Movies & TV is available on PCs and Macs, Android and iOS mobile devices, gaming consoles, and other internet-connected devices.
