Along with our weekly article covering new Blu-ray Disc releases, here’s what’s new in Digital HD, a format that’s quickly becoming the media of choice for those who don’t want to deal with physical discs any more. And while packaged media is still popular, there are times when new movie releases pre-date Blu-ray and DVD releases by several weeks, as studios hope to maximize earning potentials.
The prices noted below are from Amazon, and are typically average or better than other video services. Digital SD format is usually less expensive than HD, although at times is priced exactly the same as HD. If you are planning on streaming to your HD or 4k TV, we strongly suggest buying the more expensive HD version of the film.
Digital movies are usually available to rent or purchase, however, new blockbuster titles such as this week’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. are only available to purchase until the title is released on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand.
