Netflix has revealed its internet service provider (ISP) leaders for the month of August, 2015. In the index, Cox Communications, Verizon’s FiOS TV, and Cablevision’s Optimum were in the top 1, 2, and 3 positions, respectively.
Cox, first place in Netflix’s last ISP rankings, had an average speed of 3.67 Mbps for the month of August. Verizon’s FiOS service followed with 3.64 Mbps, while Cablevision was slightly behind with an average of 3.63 Mbps.
Of particular note was Time Warner Cable who jumped in average internet speed from 3.37 Mbps to 3.53 Mbps (now in 5th place up from 8th place in the last rankings). And, BrightHouse improved to 3.57 Mbps from 3.42 Mbps in the last index (moving from 6th place to 4th place this time).
As defined by Netflix, “The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network.”
