Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation just hit theaters on July 31st, but Paramount Home Media is already gearing up for the home media release of the film to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital formats. Expect an earlier release of the film to Digital HD, however, at least two weeks before the physical discs are available. [Updated: Digital HD Nov. 17, 2015 / Blu-ray, DVD, On Demand Dec. 15, 2015]
On Blu-ray, ‘Rogue Nation’ will release to a 2-disc edition with Blu-ray Disc (50GB), DVD, and Digital HD copy redeemable with UltraViolet, iTunes, and Google Play. We don’t have information yet on audio formats, aspect ratio, or planned extra bonus material, but we’ll post as soon as available.
The digital edition of ‘Rogue Nation’ will also contain bonus features depending on seller. One featurette that’s confirmed for release with Vudu is titled “The Stunts Are Real,” that will likely focus on Tom Cruise’s airplane stunt (we’ll leave out any spoilers).
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation is already available to pre-order on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, and Digital HD.
At Amazon, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation on Blu-ray is priced $24.99 (MSRP: $39.99), while the DVD is priced $18.99 (MSRP: $29.99). The Digital HD copy on Amazon is $19.99 (HD) and $14.99 (SD).
At Best Buy, it looks like they’ve priced the 2-disc edition a couple bucks cheaper at $22.99, but an exclusive “Only @ BestBuy” Steelbook edition is priced $24.99.
Target is also taking pre-orders on an exclusive edition (no details yet) as well as the standard 2-disc Blu-ray edition; both are priced $24.99. However, the retailer is offering a $5 Target gift card with a pre-order of the exclusive Target edition.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, the fifth film in the franchise, earned $55M at the box office during its first weekend. The film stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, along with Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, and Ving Rhames. In ‘Rogue Nation,’ the IMF team tries to uncover a secret crime organization called the Syndicate.
Paramount also announced they will release a new Blu-ray boxed set containing all five “Mission: Impossible” films on BD with digital copies on Dec. 15, 2015. The boxed set is expected to retail for $64.99.
