The latest Mission: Impossible-franchise film (working title Mission: Impossible 5) will be digitally remastered for release at IMAX theaters worldwide, the theater chain announced today. IMAX showings will begin when the movie is slated for summer release on July 31, 2015.
The film, from Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and Bad Robot, stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt along with returning cast members Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames. Oscar-nominated Alec Baldwin will also star in the film.
Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk serve as producers of Mission: Impossible 5, along with executive producers David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger of Skydance Productions and Jake Myers.
“IMAX is so important in giving the audience the best experience of the film we have made. I am very happy to have this partnership on the next Mission,” said Cruise.
The last Mission: Impossible film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), grossed close to $210M domestic contributing to almost $700M worldwide box office earnings.
