Comcast will be doubling internet speeds for customers who choose bundled services in the provider’s Central Division – a market that includes 15 states and cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and Miami. The faster broadband services will apparently be available in some markets to customers subscribing to Double Play or Triple Play bundles such as the 25Mbps “Performance” package that costs about $45 per month. With the upgrade, the download speed would essentially double to 50Mbps.
The 50Mbps “Blast” service starting at about $79 per month and the 105Mbps “Extreme” service starting at about $114 per month have also been mentioned as getting speed upgrades, although Comcast has not yet officially announced specifics. We should also note actual monthly service costs and sign-up promotions may vary according to market.
Customers who are already subscribed to Double or Triple Play bundled services are also expected to receive the speed upgrades at no extra charge within the near future.
