Vudu is currently offering a promotion that gives you five movies in HDX format when you sign up for a new account. Some of the popular movies available to download for free include Man on a Ledge, Rango, Safe, The Italian Job, Paranormal Activity, Rest Stop and Adaptation, although those selections are subject to change. The HDX format is Vudu’s highest quality video resolution at 1080p/24 frames-per-second and surround sound audio at a 40% higher bit-rate than standard surround sound DVDs.
The Vudu sign up lets you easily log-in with your Facebook account, or alternately sign up using just an email address. Vudu is linked to the UltraViolet digital rights collection and it’s suggested, although not required, that you link or create a new UltraViolet account when you sign up for a Vudu account.
Here’s some advice though for those of you thinking about creating a new account just to get the free movies. While it would work, you’d lose out on connecting an existing UltraViolet and/or Vudu account and therefore separating your digital titles collection.
