Verizon adds 16 live channels to FiOS Mobile App

Verizon added 16 live TV channels that subscribers can now access through the FiOS Mobile App for tablets and smartphones, even while out-of-home. This brings the total number of live channels available through the app to 25. The new channels include AXS TV, beIN SPORT, beIN SPORT Espanol, Bloomberg Television, Cine Sony Television, Cooking Channel, ENCORE, FEARnet, NFL RedZone (tablet only), SHOWTIME, SHOWTIME EXTREME, Sony Movie Channel, STARZ, Trinity Broadcast, Universal Sports and  TVGN (TV Guide Network). When you’re at home, the FiOS Mobile app will let you watch up to 91 live linear national channels. Verizon last updated the Mobile app for iOS on Nov. 25, while the Android app was last updated a day later on Nov. 26. The updates addressed login problems, fixed various bugs, and added overall stability improvements.

NEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — From the park to the train, from football to romantic comedies, Verizon FiOS TV customers now have more entertainment choices while on the go, with the addition of 16 new channels to Verizon’s FiOS Mobile App. This brings to 25 the number of live channels available outside the home.

Customers who have the FiOS Mobile App – which is free – will now be able to live stream the new channels from eligible devices, including tablets and smartphones, both in and outside the home. The channels are: AXS TV, beIN SPORT, beIN SPORT Espanol, Bloomberg Television, Cine Sony Television, Cooking Channel, ENCORE, FEARnet, NFL RedZone (tablet only), SHOWTIME®, SHOWTIME EXTREME®, Sony Movie Channel, STARZ, Trinity Broadcast, Universal Sports and TVGN (TV Guide Network).

To deliver the Borderless Lifestyle – anytime, anywhere access to what people want – the FiOS Mobile App offers access to some of the most popular television shows and movies via the iPad, iPhone, select Android tablets and phones, and Kindle Fire tablets.

Playing on Screens Now
Channels that were previously made available out of the home are: BBC America, BBC World News, EPIX, HGTV, Travel Channel, NFL Network (tablet only), Food Network, DIY Network and Tennis Channel. Customers can watch up to all 25 channels, depending upon their current FiOS TV package.

FiOS TV customers who are FiOS Internet customers can also use their mobile devices and tablets to watch up to 91 live linear national channels at home. In addition, FiOS TV and Internet customers in the New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., areas can use their eligible tablets and mobile phones to watch news and weather at home on the local affiliates of networks such as CBS and Fox, and the local affiliates of Spanish-language networks such as UniMas and Univision.

For movie lovers, the FiOS Mobile App offers on-demand content, including more than 45,000 on-demand titles. Customers can also access thousands of free and subscription-on-demand content from brands like HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Encore, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel and more.

The app has numerous easy-to-use functions, including TV listings, My Bookmarks, My Library, On Demand, DVR, Settings and Help. In addition, the FiOS Mobile App offers parental controls so parents can decide what content they want their children to access.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming on TV, with more than 520 all-digital channels including up to 142 HD channels and 19,000 monthly video-on-demand titles. FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social networking, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or cellphone; and more.
