Amazon is offering customers who plan to purchase the Xbox One gaming console a chance to upgrade their Xbox 360 games to Xbox One games for $9.99. The select titles, all of which are still only available for pre-order, do not actually have to be purchased from Amazon. However, the title you trade in must match the title you upgrade to. For example, if you purchase FIFA 14 for Xbox 360 you can only upgrade to FIFA 14 for Xbox One.
The Xbox titles eligible for the upgrade include Madden NFL 25, Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Black, Watch Dogs, and Need for Speed Rivals. Who knows? The list may grow but for now only includes a total of eight games.
The offer includes select Xbox 360 games that you already own and would like to trade-in for at least $25. Once Amazon receives your game and grades its condition, you’ll be notified the game was accepted. At that point an additional $25 bonus credit will be applied to your account. You then choose the qualifying Xbox One game and add it to your cart to purchase. The $50 in credit (both for the trade-in and bonus) will be applied and if the math is correct you’ll end up only $9.99 for the upgraded game.
The offer from Amazon does not allow you to trade in PS3 games for Xbox One, or the reverse.
The offer is only good until December 31, 2013.
