Starz and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution have reached a distribution deal that will put hundreds of Fox movies on STARZ and ENCORE movie channels. The multi-year agreement includes standard-definition and HD versions of titles, as well as On Demand and online viewing via STARZ PLAY and ENCORE PLAY. Titles from the Fox library include hit movies and franchises such as Alien, Ice Age, and X-Men. The licensing deal is largest yet between the two companies, with 40-percent of the Fox titles being new to Starz channels.
Additional Fox titles include hits such as Big Momma’s House, Dodgeball, Dude, Where’s My Car?, Planet of the Apes (2001), Cheaper by the Dozen, Predator, Fight Club, Behind Enemy Lines, There’s Something About Mar, and Moulin Rouge.
“This agreement with Fox will fortify our pipeline of popular theatrical library content through the end of the decade and is a great complement to our exclusive originals, first-run movies, and other popular movie fare,” said Michael Thornton, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions, Business & Legal Affairs.
Premium channel networks STARZ and ENCORE are available through most major satellite, cable, and fiber-optic TV service providers.
To watch content online via STARZ PLAY and ENCORE PLAY viewers will need to authenticate the services with their username and password.
