On Sept. 10 Paramount will release Star Trek: The Original Series – Origins to Blu-ray Disc, featuring five episodes that introduced the main Star Trek characters…including heroes, villains and creatures. Episodes include “The Cage,” “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” “Space Seed, “Errand of Mercy,” and the popular episode “The Trouble with Tribbles.” (See more episode details below.) Why the ‘Tribbles’ episode needs to be included is beyond us, with so many other “villains” to be reintroduced. But we imagine the ‘Tribbles’ will some copies. Paramount hasn’t indicated whether or not this will be an ongoing Blu-ray series and this is the first of many. Star Trek: The Original Series: Origins will run 4 hours and 25 minutes with a retail price of $26.99.
Star Trek: The Original Series: Origins episodes:
- “The Cage,” the original Star Trek pilot (featuring Pike and Spock)
- “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” the second pilot (which featured Kirk and aired as the third episode of season one)
- “Space Seed,” which gave fans their first glimpse of Khan
- “Errand of Mercy,” in which the Enterprise crew, and fans, met the Klingons; and “The Trouble with Tribbles,” which first unleashed the cute but problematic Tribbles.
