Microsoft has dropped the price of the 32GB Surface RT tablet by $150, after reducing prices abroad both in the UK and Australia. The 32GB model (previously $499) is now priced at US $349, £279, and AU$389. The 64GB model is selling for $449 (previously $599). Both configurations are also available with black touch cover, priced at $449 (32GB) and $549 (64GB) at the Microsoft Store. With the price drops, Microsoft is hoping to boost sales of the tablet which have been behind expectations. Bloomberg reported in March, 2013 the Surface RT only sold 400,000 units out of the total 1.5 million Surface devices sold. Last week, Engadget revealed the Staples ad dated July 14-20 which prices the 32GB on sale for $349. Best Buy also has the 32GB Surface RT priced at $349.
