While Star Trek fans were all hyped up for the release of Star Trek: Into Darkness this weekend, Microsoft released the Xbox 360 Star Trek SmartGlass application. The app is synched up with J.J. Abrams’ first title in the ‘Star Trek’ franchise, letting users go behind-the-scenes, watch deleted scenes, and view concept art for the U.S.S. Enterprise as you watch the film. If you didn’t make it to the theater for ‘Into Darkness,’ the SmartGlass application also gives viewers a sneak peak of the film.
Xbox SmartGlass works with Windows 8, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android 4.0 and higher. Other films SmartGlass has been integrated with include Prometheus, Safe House, The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Some video games compatible with Xbox SmartGlass include Ascend: New Gods, Forza Horizon, and Halo 4.
Xbox SmartGlass was introduced by Microsoft at E3 2012, and first released for the Xbox 360 platform on October 26, 2012.
