Netflix inks deal with Hasbro for more kiddie content

If you’re the parent of a small child, you know just how valuable Netflix can be. Sometimes the longest 15 seconds of the day come during the “Playing next episode in 15…14…13” countdown. So the news that more “Just for Kids” content is on the way should always be celebrated. This time the cartoons are coming from Hasbro Studios, as Netflix and the makers of “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” have signed an expanded content license deal that will bring two new shows “Littlest Pet Shop” and “Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters,” to streaming customers this summer. Netflix is also the exclusive streaming distributor for Hasbro’s “Transformers Prime,” “Transformers: Rescue Bots,” “Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters” and “Littlest Pet Shop.”

New seasons of each show will be watchable a month after the finale airs on The Hub Network. Plus for the first time, Hasbro programming is now available to Canadian subscribers. “The success of Hasbro Studios content on Netflix has been remarkable and we are proud to add more shows and extend our relationship throughout North America,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said. “In a very competitive field, Hasbro Studios has risen to become a major content player with shows that kids watch and families trust.”… and that parents can use as an $8/month babysitter.
