New UltraViolet titles announced for 2012

At CES, the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) announced plans to release "hundreds" of titles to the UltraViolet format in 2012. The collective studios, including Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros. and now Paramount, plan to include UltraViolet copies on upcoming Blu-ray Disc & DVD releases as well as electronic sell through.

13 Universal titles get restored to Blu-ray

Universal is celebrating it's 100-year anniversary by restoring 13 classic titles from the studio's library to release on Blu-ray Disc. The first title (never before released on Blu-ray) will be To Kill a Mockingbird 50th Anniversary Edition on Jan 31, 2012.

‘Chinatown’ & ‘The Deer Hunter’ coming to Blu-ray

First on the calendar is Universal's The Deer Hunter, starring Robert De Niro, John Savage, Meryl Streep, and Christopher Walken. The film is slated for a March 6 release with a very reasonable $19.98 suggested list price.

LG unveils 9.1 3D home theater system

Make room for LG's BH9420PW, a 9.1 Home Theater in a Box system that also features their proprietary 3D Sound Zooming technology. LG says 3D Sound Zooming works to constantly synchronize the sound output with the location and movement of the on-screen 3D images on one of their Cinema 3D Smart TVs.

Samsung intros inTouch camera with WiFi at CES 2012

Samsung brought along a new product to CES this year which promises to "bridge the gap" between HDTVs with and without internet. The Samsung inTouch camera sits atop your HDTV and connects via HDMI, bringing Wi-Fi, Skype connectivity, 720p video, and other apps to your set.

Toshiba promises glasses-free 3D TV on “sale” in U.S. any day now

A Toshiba representative tells CNET that a model similar to the 55-inch sets already on the foreign markets will be available in the U.S. in the first quarter of this year. There are no other details available on the size or specs of the set, but the company's glasses-free 3D technology - said to be improved over last year's - is getting some floor time at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
