Sharp bringing new Blu-ray recorders to Japan

Well here’s a term you don’t hear much anymore: Blu-ray recorder.  Sharp is looking to change that, at least in Japan, with its newly announced trio of AQUOS Blu-Ray recorders. The BD-W1200 (1TB), BD-W520 (500GB) and BD-S520 (500GB) come with the same basic features including three TV tuners (except the S520 which has one), DLNA support, and app support.  No word yet on pricing or a U.S. arrival, but we do know they will feature the new “Sharp Thumbnail” mode that will create thumbnail images for each show you record, letting you get to the action quickly. Because hey, when you need to catch up on that X Factor, time is of the essence, right?
