20th Century Fox’s Avatar 3D Blu-ray hits shelves on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Now everyone can get a copy of Avatar in 3D, when previously only certain Panasonic customers were given a copy through exclusive 3D Starter Bundles. The new 3D release of Avatar comes in new “collectible” packaging (looking really nice by the way), and contains Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD copies of the film. For those of you expecting more (after waiting 3 years since the theatrical release), sorry about that. It seems this release was focused more on getting the 3D version of the film to shelves rather than sweetening the deal with any extras or bonuses. The BDs are formatted in MPEG-4 at 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Here’s a link to Amazon if you want to check out pricing.
