Dish dropping AMC network including ‘Mad Men’

Dish Network says they will drop all four of AMC Network’s cable channels due to high licensing fees which can’t be supported by viewership. The networks, including AMC, WE TV, Independent Film Channel, and Sundance Channel, could all be dropped when their contracts terminate at the end of June. What about Mad Men you ask? Even though the show is one of the most popular on television, Dish calls AMC’s popular programming “limited” and says episodes of Mad Men are available on other platforms such as Netflix and iTunes. AMC also broadcasts other critically acclaimed shows include Breaking Bad, The Killing, and The Walking Dead. Will Dish actually drop the AMC Network channels? And if they do, how will subscribers react?
