DIRECTV has launched a streaming service in Beta mode, offering movies and shows on TVs, laptops, tablets and smartphones over the internet — just like Netflix and other streaming providers. The satcaster is also offering a free movie from DIRECTV CINEMA this month only, featuring titles such as Contraband, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and Happy Feet Two. HBO premium networks include Starz, Encore, Cinemax, and Audience.
To watch streaming content via directv.com you’ll need to install the free DIRECTV Player available on DIRECTV’s website. The installer works on both PCs and Macs, but you’ll need Windows XP SP3 or Mac OS version 10.6.0 or greater. The application supports most new browser versions but will not work on 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer.

this doesnt work on my mac! does that mean i need a whole new mac laptop to stream??!! sucks!
