We’re getting some juicy new nuggets about the recently announced God of War: Ascension, with the main one being the inclusion of multiplayer for the first time ever in a God of War game. Game director Todd Papy talked in length (see video here) this morning about the changes he and his Sony Santa Monica Studios team are making to the PlayStation franchise, including adapting the game engine for eight-player matches on five to seven maps. Series star Kratos will not be playable online, but of course he’s the focus of the single player campaign, as this prequel seeks to shed light on just why he became so angry. The game is set for a spring 2013 release.
