Last Sunday Time Warner Cable unexpectedly dropped MSG Network in the New York metropolitan and Buffalo market areas, replacing it with NBA TV. On Monday at 7 a.m., the provider pulled MSG Plus, replacing it with NHL Network. The removal of the channels follows a carriage dispute between TWC and Madison Square Garden Networks — with TWC claiming MSG wants a 53-percent increase in distribution fees.
TWC has tried to make amends by replacing the MSG channels with the “best possible replacement programming in the genre” (according a Time Warner Cable spokesperson). But the change in programming doesn’t help New York Knick, Rangers or Devils fans in the affected market areas, as those local games are blacked out on NBA TV and NHL Network.
