UFC to air in 3D, a first from Versus

The first UFC fight in 3D will be broadcast March 3, 2011 by Versus. Comcast Xfinity is sponsoring the event from KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY, featuring a welterweight fight between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann. A middleweight fight will match CB “The Doberman” Dollaway against Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz.

The event starts at 9 p.m. Eastern and several other television service providers have committed to carrying the 3D coverage including Cox Communications and Verizon. The 3D broadcast will be separate from the HD broadcast and in fact utilize different production crews.

Versus has broadcast other events in 3D including the Tim Hortons Heritage Classic, NHL’s Winter Classic from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, and the Oregon Ducks versus the California Golden Bears back in November, 2010.
