PS3 will soon stream VUDU HD video

How about streaming some 1080p through your PS3? VUDU HD titles will soon be available for PlayStation 3 gaming consoles via an app, letting you stream full HD video and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. VUDU titles are rented a-la-cart for as little as $2 for two nights, and VUDU gets day-and-date releases with DVDs and Blu-ray.

Here’s a bonus for PlayStation Network members: a $5.99 credit will be given to new VUDU users. That’s enough for a free HD rental from VUDU’s library of over 4,000 HD movies.

The PlayStation 3 is the first gaming system to offer the service. And, according to Edward Lichty, general manager of VUDU, “PS3 is tailor-made for the high-quality, high-speed VUDU streaming experience.”

The VUDU app will release on Nov. 23, 2010 and can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store under the “Media” category. Once installed you’ll be able to access the app from the XrossMediaBar menu.
