Playstation 80GB discontinued?

An Engadget article cites a source who claims “the new bundles will take the high / low road, that the
40GB model will remain on shelves, while the 80GB, Spider-Man 3-inclusive system will disappear, only to
be replaced with a 120GB or 160GB configuration.”

So it looks like no more middle of the road for PS3 gamers. You either get the Hyundai, or the Mercedes. No Honda’s for you my friend. The larger hard-drive and included Dual Shock
3 controller will make all the difference in the high end model.

Recently in Japan, the 20GB and 60GB Playstation 3 versions were discontinued, along with backward compatibility for PS2.
