The 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Finals matchup has been decided after Pittsburg defeated Ottawa last night 3-2 in double overtime. Fatigue seemed to have been setting in on both teams after over 85 minutes of game play, but the Penguins still had enough to maintain more offensive pressure with 42 shots on goal vs. the Senator’s 29. This will be the Penguin’s sixth appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.
On Monday night of this week, Nashville secured their first visit to the Stanley Cup Finals with a 6-3 win against Anaheim in a grueling battle on the ice. The score was actually much closer for most of the game, but Anaheim’s decision to remove goal keeper Jonathan Bernier and go all offense with about 2 minutes may have been premature.
The Stanley Cup Finals will begin on Monday, May 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET with the Senators hosting the Predators on NBC.
