‘Orange Is the New Black’ is the new Netflix series

From the creator of Weeds comes Orange Is the New Black, Netflix’ newest original series with 13 episodes ready to go right now for streaming customers. Billed as a “hilarious, heartbreaking, and critically acclaimed” series, the show is based on the true story of Piper Kerman. Taylor Schilling plays Piper, an upper-class New Yorker who finds herself sentenced to 15 months in a women’s correctional facility for a crime she committed long ago. American Pie’s Jason Biggs is the biggest name in the supporting cast. Regina Spektor provides a new song for the show’s opening credits. 

So far the reviews have been pretty darn good for Orange, with a Metacritic average score of 82 out of 100 through its first 21 reviews. That’s encouraging, especially since the show has already been picked up for a second season.
