YouTube TV has increased the monthly cost of their basic package from $39.99 to $49.99 per month. The price hike follows AT&T’s increase of DirecTV Now last month, also going up $10 from $40 to $50 per month for basic service (no add-ons included).
The updated cost is for new customers. However, existing customers will see the change next month; lesson learned about month-to-month service — there is no way to lock in rates. Customers who subscribe through Apple products will now pay $54.99 per month.
YouTube TV offers over 70 channels in the basic service, with the ability to add-on another eight networks á la carte. If you were to add on every premium package offered the service would cost another $100 per month.
YouTube TV is better than it was when it launched though, with the addition of 8 Discovery-owned channels: Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Investigation Discovery, MotorTrend, TLC, and Travel Channel. YouTube TV also now includes the EPIX premium add-on for $6 per month.
For $49.99 per month, YouTube TV provides free unlimited DVR storage, 6 accounts per household, and 3 simultaneous streams.
