Universal Studios Home Entertainment has dated the movie Serenity for release on 4k Blu-ray on Oct. 17. The release will come one month after Firefly The Complete Series gets released to a 15th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition on Sept. 19.
On Ultra HD Blu-ray, Serenity is presented in 2160p at 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio. There’s also HDR encoded in the video stream using the HDR10 specification. And, the soundtrack is featured in DTS:X immersive audio, backed by DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
Extras on Serenity 4k Blu-ray include feature commentary with Director Joss Whedon, deleted and extended scenes, “A Filmmaker’s Journey, U-Control content, and several bonus featurettes.
The 2-disc combo edition also includes a Blu-ray Disc and digital copy via iTunes. It has a list price of $29.99 but is selling for $20.49 (see below for pre-order price).
