There have been so many variations of Ridley Scott’s masterpiece Blade Runner including a Director’s Cut, Ultimate and Complete Collector’s Editions, a 30th Anniversary Edition, imports, and the “The Final Cut.”
On Tuesday, Sept. 5 you’ll be able to add to that list a 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray edition. Warner Bros. is once again releasing the film to a higher quality print, featuring 2160p video with HDR-enhanced color depth. And, a soundtrack featuring Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio.
Amazon has dropped the price of Blade Runner on 4k Blu-ray to $27.83 — making it much lower than the $42.99 Best Buy is still getting for the upcoming edition. [Update: Only hours after publishing this article, as if Best Buy was watching, they dropped the price of Blade Runner 4k Blu-ray to $29.99.] Remember, if Amazon or Best Buy drop the price even further those who pre-order will get the lowest price upon release date. (See updated pricing below from Amazon.)
The 4k Blu-ray release of Blade Runner anticipates the theatrical premiere of Blade Runner 2049 slated for theaters, including IMAX and RealD 3D cinemas, on October 6, 2017.
