HBO’s new original series Westworld premieres tonight on HBO with multiple airings of the 1 hour, 9 minute episode starting at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT. HBO has aspirations for the series, called a “dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin,” to reach as much success as Game of Thrones.
The series’ cast, including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright among others, is certainly fitted to reach GOT status. And, with writing contributions from Michael Crichton, Lisa Joy Nolan, and Jonathan Nolan (who directs the first episode), there seems to be no excuse for the series not to be engaging.
HBO released a “Mature” trailer (posted below) for the series early last month that wasn’t yet rated on IMDB, but since then the show has received a TV MA rating for mature audiences.
If you don’t already subscribe to HBO, the network is offering a free one-month trial of HBO Now, their over-the-top internet-delivered service that costs $14.99 per month and doesn’t require a TV service provider like Comcast or DirecTV.
