Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has released three movies to Ultra HD Blu-ray, the first from the studio following Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, and 20th Century Fox who already have UHD BD titles on shelves. The three Ultra HD Blu-ray titles released on Tuesday, August 9 include Oblivion, Lucy, and Lone Survivor.
All three of the Ultra HD Blu-ray releases from Universal feature content in HDR (using the HDR10 standard) for 4k TVs that support the format, as well as a 1080p Blu-ray Disc and Digital HD copy that can be redeemed with either Apple iTunes or through UltraViolet partners. And, the Ultra HD editions include some extra bonus material that varies according to title.
For the soundtracks, Oblivion features audio in Dolby Atmos and DTS HD Master Audio 7.1. Lucy also has Dolby Atmos but with DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 as a backup. Finally, Lone Survivor includes DTS:X Immersive Audio and a DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack in case DTS:X is not supported.
Video is formatted in UHD HDR10 with a 2.40:1 widescreen aspect ratio.
Back in April, Universal announced several other titles to be released to Ultra HD Blu-ray including Everest, Jason Bourne, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, andWarcraft.
