Netflix has made its mark in original series production with some of the most popular shows out there, namely the political drama House of Cards and the addictive Orange is the New Black. Now, the company hopes to build upon its lineup with the upcoming show Marco Polo, about the famous Italian merchant and his travels to 13th century China. Late yesterday, Netflix uploaded a one minute, thirty second teaser trailer for the show that will debut on December 12, 2014.
From the looks of the teaser, it seems Marco Polo will cater to mature audiences that relish shows such as Game of Thrones, threading sex and violence into into the overall theme of adventure. The series is slated for ten-episodes.
Marco Polo was created by John Fusco (Young Guns II) and stars Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong, Joan Chen. The series is being co-produced by Netflix Weinstein Co.
The teaser trailer is viewable in HD quality in either 720p or 1080o resolution.
