Comcast Increases Internet Speeds in 4 Markets Including California

xfinity-logo-300pxComcast has increased internet speeds across select markets in four states including California, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. To see the improvement immediately, customers can just restart their modems. If not, the upgrade will happen automatically over the next few days.

Comcast Xfinity customers with Performance Tier get their speeds doubled from 25 Mbps to 50 Mbps. Blast Tier customers also get double the internet speed with an increase to 105 Mbps from 50 Mbps. And, Extreme Tier customers will see increases from 105 Mbps to 150 Mbps.

Most California Xfinity customers will see the upgraded speeds with the exception of those living in Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Isleton, Lodi and Rio Vista. In the other three states mentioned, the upgrades are limited to markets in Olathe, KS, Independence, MO, and Houston, TX.

With Xfinity internet service Comcast gives customers complementary access to about 3.6 million Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide. The company says they have plans to grow that number to eight million by the end of 2014.
