Amazon boasts over 36.8 million products ordered on Cyber Monday

How good was this shopping season? Ask Amazon. The company boasts over 36.8 million products were ordered online from Amazon on Cyber Monday this year. The orders include the most ever shipments of Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fire tablets. And, online orders reached a max of 426 items per second on the cyber shopping day — a new record for the company.

Amazon also announced a record-breaking season for Prime shipping memberships, with over one million customers worldwide signing up for new Prime membership in the third week of December alone. The company says they now have tens of millions of Prime subscribers worldwide.

Along with unlimited Two-Day shipping on millions of Amazon products, Prime subscribers also get unlimited streaming of video. During 2013, Amazon claims to have added 7,000 movie and TV show titles to Prime Instant Video to reach approximately 40,000 selections. Combined with pay-for-titles, Amazon’s total digital online library now consists 150,000 movies and TV episodes.

Selections in Amazon’s Kindle Owners’ Lending Library expanded from 250,000 books to over 475,000 books this year. The books can be borrowed for free with no due dates by Prime members.
