Here’s some good news for Amazon Prime customers. The U.S. Postal Service has started delivering packages on Sundays within the cities of Los Angeles and New York. Customers in available regions will now see the Sunday Delivery option for eligible items upon checking out. In 2014, the USPS plans to begin shipping to other select cities nationwide including Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Phoenix.
“As online shopping continues to increase, the Postal Service is very happy to offer shippers like Amazon the option of having packages delivered on Sunday,” said Patrick R. Donahoe, Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer.
Amazon Prime membership ($79 per year) provides free two-day shipping, unlimited video streaming in with Prime Instant Video, and a book to borrow each month from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
The news comes from a press release issued from Amazon.com.
The USPS is closed today, November 11, in awareness of Veterans Day.
