The rental fee is good for all three Vudu formats: SD, HD and HDX (480p, 720 or 1080p); streamed at a minimum bitrate of 1Mbps, 2.25Mbps, or 4.5Mbps, respectively. While the rental charge is certainly a steal, the purchase price of U-571 is like most digital purchases at $13.99 (HD/HDX) or $9.99 (SD). The high-def formats also include 5.1 Surround Sound.
U-571 takes place during World War II’s submarine battles, and was influenced by the classic German film Das Boot by Wolfgang Petersen. The film stars Matthew McConaughey (We Are Marshall), Bill Paxton (Apollo 13), and Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs).
