By Jove, it’s a Christmas miracle! OK, maybe “miracle” is a bit of a stretch here, but Netflix adding two bona fide holiday classics to their streaming roster is surely more of a miracle than whatever happened on 34th Street, right? The Polar Express and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation are now both watchable with the click of a button. Inspired by Chris Van Allsburg’s award-winning children’s book, The Polar Express is Robert Zemeckis’ and Tom Hanks’ 2004 CGI tale of how a young boy’s faith in the holiday spirit is revived after he makes his way by train to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Christmas Vacation (1989) brings Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his dysfunctional family back, this time with a surprise holiday visit from chaotic Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid). Two great films that offer something for the kids and something for dad.
