Dish customers lose ABC in Central Oregon

Dish Network customers in Central Oregon should get out their antennas if they want to watch KOHD TV, the local ABC affiliate. According to KBND.com, the satcaster and station owners Chambers Communications were unable to come to terms before a five year contract expired at midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

According to Dish, Chambers Communications was asking for an increase of almost 500% for carriage of KOHD TV. On the flip side, Chambers says Dish rejected all the offers they made them. They say they are just asking the “fair market” rate that other television providers have agreed to pay.

If you’re one of the thousands of residents who can no longer watch the local ABC feed, try hooking up an HD antenna and watch it over-the-air for free. It’s amazing that there can be so much bad blood over a major network when the signals are just there to grab for nothing.
