The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 sold an estimated 3.85 million combined Blu-ray and DVD units over weekend, following the film’s home media release on March 2. According to Lionsgate, Blu-ray Disc copies of ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ made up for about 27% of the units sold over the opening weekend, reflecting an increase from Blu-ray sales of ‘Breaking Dawn Part 1’ last year at 22%. Over 3,000 stores nationwide held release parties as the clock hit midnight last Friday including Target, Walmart, and Best Buy.
Lionsgate has officially announced the release date for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, On Demand, and Digital Download will be March 2, 2013. Keep in mind this is a Friday midnight release, just as the other Twilight films have been. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 on Blu-ray and DVD will both include Digital Copies of the film, as well as UltraViolet access codes to download from the cloud. Extras on both formats include a seven-part documentary (see details below), audio commentary, “Two Movies at Once” featurette, “Jump To” featurettes, and “The Forgotten” Green Day music video. The high-definition Blu-ray is formatted in 1080p HD resolution at 2.40:1 widescreen aspect ratio. Audio formats include Dolby Digital and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. The single-disc Blu-ray and 2-disc DVD carry suggested retail prices of $39.99 and $30.98, respectively.
