No, Steve Perry and the gang haven't had a resurgence of their 1983 Atari game, this Journey ($14.99, PS3) is a downloadable gem for the PlayStation Network that has now set the record for the fastest-selling PSN game of all time. Winning rave reviews from critics (currently a 92 average on Metacritic), this highly artistic effort is being praised for its new take on multiplayer gaming, beautiful environments, and moving score. Speaking of that, Journey's developer, thatgamecompany, has announced the soundtrack will be available on the PS Store and iTunes starting of April 10, followed by a CD release.
Late yesterday the Mass Effect 3 demo launched on PlayStation Network, allowing PSN members to download the single-player demo.
Sony has finally got it's PlayStation Store open for business again after weeks of troubleshooting and installing deeper security procedures. If you're anxiously awaiting the free "thank you for being patient" content, you'll have a wait just a bit longer as they further test the promised downloads. While the news this week has mostly been concerned with wishing Osama bin Laden bon voyage on his trip to Davy Jones Locker, the other biggish news is that of Sony and their seriously f'd up PlayStation Network issues stemming from a hack with criminal intent back in mid-April. Expect the PlayStation Network to be back up any day now... including access for all services. This will require you to complete a new set of security login/user queries prior to full access.
