Sony is now shipping a thin design laptop made of aluminum and carbon fiber chassis that weighs just 2.5-pounds. The VAIO Z Series portable computer comes with either the Intel Core i5-2410M , i5-2540M, or i7-2620M processor, with 13.1″ LED backlit display in 1920×1080 or 1600×900 resolutions (add an extra $100 for the 1080p display). Sony boasts the laptop will run for 8 hours on stock battery or up to 16 hours with an optional large-capacity sheet battery.
The Z Series laptop can also be paired with the Power Media Dock which will support up to four HD display outputs. Ports on the dock include three USB (1 x 3.0 and 2 x 2.0), HDMI and VGA, as well as an AMD Radeon HD 6650M graphics card with 1GB VRAM and slot loading optical drive.
