Disney has released the first official trailer for “The Lion King” (2019) premiering in theaters this summer on July 14. The movie will release to traditional theaters as well as IMAX, RealD 3D and Dolby Cinema venues.
“The Lion King” retells the story of young lion cub Simba and his rise to the rule the kingdom. Directed by Jon Favreau, the all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
“The Lion King” looks like a live-action film at first glance but uses pioneering filmmaking techniques to create a realistic CGI that makes this film more of a hybrid or new form of filmmaking that’s hard to put a label on.
