Comcast, ranked the largest broadband internet provider in Q1 2017, is having some major problems with internet service today. As a result, thousands of customers across the United States, both business and residential, are without internet access. Check out the graphic above that shows multiple hotspots where there are outtages.
The reports starting coming in around 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (10:00 a.m. PT), with a huge jump in reports at 1:40 p.m. according to outage.report.
Ironically, the Comcast corporate and consumer websites are still running, which obviously exist on a different platform than the company’s business and consumer internet service.
Customers are outraged about the downtime, expressing themselves on both social media and websites that track the outtages.
One customer on Twitter says “Costing me tons of $ – I am self-employed, work from home & can’t do anything.” Another user tweets “When you tell your boss your internet is down nd then you say comcast and he laughs and says ok.”
The Comcast Twitter account is getting slammed with @ replies, and Comcast has even responded to some tweets saying “Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. I can help address your concerns. Please send me a DM with account info and more details. -NC”
The latest tweet update from Comcast Customer Care, posted about 11:50 a.m. PT, says “our teams continue to monitor an external network issue. We apologize for the inconvenience & will provide updates as we learn more.”
Let’s hope Comcast can get this figured out by days end.
