Dish Network-owned Sling TV is launching access to Netflix, and will even make it easier for customers stream the service with a new remote control a built-in Netflix button.
The launch of Netflix on Sling TV comes with the release of the newly-designed AirTV Player, a streaming media device designed to distribute Over-The-Air (OTA) TV channels free from local broadcast stations captured via a wired OTA antenna.
The device, colored blue and white, contrasts with traditional set-top-boxes (STBs) and remote controls that, in their black finish, can be difficult to find in low lighting and hard to distinguish from one another.
According to the Sling product page:
With the AirTV Player, cut the cord and keep the TV experience. You’ll have a single platform for watching Sling TV, Netflix, local channels, and more. Plus, one easy-to-use remote with voice support for your AirTV Player, local OTA channels, and sound system.
The AirTV Player is Android TV-powered and includes a circular Google button next to the Netflix button, as well as voice and audio system support.
