Terrestrials are great; but extra terrestrials? Even better! E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Steven Spielberg's iconic 1982 gem about a boy and a semi-legal alien, finally comes to high definition this fall. The original theatrical version of the film will arrive on Blu-ray sometime in October with 1080p video and a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. A DVD and digital copy of the film will also be included in the package. Pre-orders are at $24.49 right now at Amazon. It's another release tied into the promotion of Universal Studios' 100th anniversary, and this being the 30th anniversary of E.T., it's only fitting that it gets a worthy package of extra features.

Disney continues to delve deeper into 3D, as they've announced two of their 21st century hits Finding Nemo and Up will be coming to Blu-ray 3d on December 4. This is the first time Finding Nemo will be available on Blu-ray, while Up, which has been on Blu-ray since late 2009, now gets the 3D treatment for the first time. Both films are listed at $34.99 on Amazon, but you can pre-order Finding Nemo right now for $26.99. Details on the specs and extras have yet to be revealed, but if it's anything like past Disney/Pixar home video releases, the sky's the limit.
Amazon's overseas company LOVEFiLM is now streaming in high-definition (HD) in both the UK and Germany, the company announced this morning. The service is similar to Netflix and Amazon's Instant Video, offering unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows on demand to supporting devices.
