Paramount Home Media and Redbox announced a deal that brings new Blu-ray Discs and DVDs to Redbox kiosks the same day they are released in stores. Typically, the window for renting new titles from Redbox has been 28 days.
Upcoming Paramount movies that may or may not be available at Redbox upon release date include Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (Jan. 31), Arrival (Feb. 14), and Fences (Mar. 14).
Redbox recently increased rates to $1.50 per day for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs to $2.00 per day. Video game rentals went up on Jan. 6 to $3 per day.
“This distribution agreement is a win for Redbox, Paramount and most importantly consumers, who will continue to have access to Paramount’s quality lineup of movies for as low as $1.50 a night,” said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox.
“[Redbox is] a vital destination for millions of consumers and an essential part of our commitment to delivering our world-class films to fans however and wherever they want them,” said Bob Buchi, President, Worldwide Home Media Distribution, Paramount Pictures.
