Starz, the premium network that brings original series such as “Outlander,” “Power,” and “Survivor’s Remorse” to premium television, has launched an app for Roku streaming media players. Starz Play (already available for Fire TV and Chromecast), is a free download from the Roku channel store and provides streaming access to over 200 Starz original series.
Starz also has distribution rights for a large selection of movies, including Disney movies Big Hero 6, Maleficent, and Into the Woods, and Sony Pictures Annie, Fury, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Subscriptions to Starz also include access to Encore Play and Movieplex Play, app channels that feature popular films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and A River Runs Through It.
“The Roku platform is a significant addition for our TV Everywhere service and we’re proud to give subscribers another option to watch our critically-acclaimed STARZ Original series and premium movies,” said Scott Barton, Senior Vice President of Branded Digital Content and Products for Starz.
In addition to Roku, the Starz Play app and service is also available Amazon Fire TV & Fire TV Stick, Xbox One and Xbox 360, Chromecast, mobile phones and tablets (Android, iOS), and PCs and Macs. Google Nexus devices including Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 are also supported.
