List of Devices That Support AV1 Video Coding

Here’s a list of AV1-enabled devices that includes smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming media players, game consoles, and TVs, and personal computers (Apple & Windows). AV1 is a next-gen video codec that is supported by devices with hardware-based decoding, allowing for efficient and high-quality video playback. 

Smartphones and Tablets:

  • Samsung: Galaxy S21 series and newer, including Galaxy S22 and S23.
  • Xiaomi: Mi 11 and 12 series.
  • Oppo: Find X5 Pro.
  • OnePlus: 10 Pro.
  • Apple: iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models.
  • Apple: M3 chip-equipped Macs (MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Mini) and M4 chip-equipped iPad Pro.
  • Apple: iPad Mini (2024) and iPad Air (2025). 

Smart TVs and Streaming Devices:

  • Android TV: Smart TVs running Android TV and Google TV operating systems, including Sony Google TV models from 2021 onward. 
  • Amazon Fire TV: Many Amazon Fire TV models, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. 
  • Roku: Roku Streaming Stick 4K and other Roku models. 
  • Samsung TVs: Samsung TVs from late 2020 onward have AV1 hardware decoders. 
  • LG: LG UHD TVs and projectors running WebOS 5.0 and above. 
  • PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One: These consoles also support AV1 playback. 

Computers:

  • Apple: Macs with M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips.
  • Intel: 11th generation and newer CPUs with integrated graphics.
  • AMD: Ryzen 6000 or newer CPUs with integrated graphics.
